Documents required for PAN Card Application

Finding correct documents required for PAN Card Application can be confusing. So we have taken efforts and compiled long list of valid documents required for PAN Card Application.

For New PAN Card application, you have to provide:

  • Proof Of Identity
  • Proof Of Date Of Birth
  • Proof Of Address

For New PAN Card Application, Aadhaar Card is made compulsory. However, if you do not have Aadhaar Card, then you have to enrol for Aadhar Card by visiting nearest UIDAI Aadhaar Centre. On enrolment, you will receive Enrolment Receipt of Aadhaar. Provide this enrolment receipt along with any one valid proof of Identity as mentioned in below list.

List of valid Proof Of Identity documents for PAN:
  1. Aadhaar Card
  2. Voter ID or Election Card
  3. Driving License
  4. Passport
  5. Certificate of identity in Original signed by a Gazetted officer
  6. Certificate of identity in Original signed by a Member of Parliament
  7. Certificate of identity in Original signed by a Member of Legislative Assembly
  8. Certificate of identity in Original signed by a Municipal Councilor
  9. Ration card having photograph of the applicant
  10. Arm’s license
  11. Photo identity card issued by the Central Government or State Government or Public Sector Undertaking
  12. Pensioner card having photograph of the applicant
  13. Central Government Health Scheme Card or Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme photo card
  14. Bank certificate in Original on letter head from the branch(alongwith name and stamp of the issuing officer) containing duly attested photograph and bank account number of the applicant

What is PAN Card?

So you are here to know What is actually PAN Card. Lets start with the Full form of it. PAN stands for Permanent Account Number.

PAN is a 10 digit alphanumeric number. It is issued by the Indian Income Tax Department. Any Indian Individual or Financial entities like Company, Trust, Partnership Firm, Society and HUF can apply for PAN Card. Foreign nationals such as investors can also apply for PAN Card.

An example of a PAN code number would be in the form of ABCDE1234F.

PAN Card is mandatory in majority of financial transactions like opening bank account, receiving salary, receiving payments, or sale / purchase of products above certain limits. It is compulsory for high value transactions.

This PAN number is unique to each person and is also valid through out life of holder. Once issued, PAN number doesn’t change. However, we can change details in PAN Card by submitting PAN Correction Application.
